For our Environment…
Jack Smith has been a leader in protecting Cary’s environment for as long as he’s been on the Town Council. In the early years, Jack was often a lonely voice on Council cautioning that unbridled growth without protecting the town’s environment and its quality of life risked killing the proverbial goose that laid the golden egg of economic prosperity on Cary’s doorstep.
He has been consistent, strong proponent of the town’s adoption of energy-saving initiatives and its recognition that sustainability must be a factor in every project review and capital investment.
In recognition of his unwavering commitment to the protection of Cary’s environment and tree canopy — in part reflected in the town’s abundance of town parks, trails and green spaces — Jack Smith Park was dedicated in his honor.
In the next few weeks, this page will grow to include highlights of some of the many amenities and programs which is proud to have initiated or supported — all of which make Cary a leader in sustainable development and environmental protection.
